Q: What is a backing track?

A: A backing track is a musical copy of a song without the lead vocal and in some cases, the lead instrument part, eg, guitar.

Q: Do they include backing vocals?

A: Backing vocals are often included in the backing track and where possible we offer these as an option, as not everybody wants backing vocals, eg, duos and trios.


Q: What are ‘no guitar’ tracks?

A: These are backing tracks where the main/lead guitar has been omitted. Ideal for guitarists and guitar based acts.


Q: What is an MP3?

A: An MP3 is a music file that can be downloaded easily straight to your computer. It is a high quality, compressed version of the backing track and is the preferred method of storing and playing back backing tracks today.


Q: What is a zip file?

A: Your backing tracks from SpellSound, will be downloaded in a zip file. Think of a zip file as a folder, which will contain your purchased backing tracks. As the majority of our tracks are provided in three separate keys, it is better for us to deliver them in a zip file/folder. A zip file enables us to reduce the file size for easier downloading. Most modern computers are able to open zip files and there are plenty of free programs available on the internet.


Q: Are backing tracks legal?

A: We are licenced by the MCPS for the provision of backing tracks and our licence to you, allows you to use the backing tracks for personal use and public performance.


Q: Can I sell CD recordings, using your backing tracks?

A: Yes, our licence allows you to produce a CD recording using our backing tracks, that you may want to use for promotional purposes, or sell at your gigs.


Q: Do you provide your backing tracks on CD or Minidisc?

A: There is the facility to do this when you checkout your order. We do charge a small fee to cover the cost of the postage and disc. You may also ring us direct to place an order over the phone on 01274 511281.


Q: How do I pay for my order?

A: Once you have chosen your track, you then need to select the version you require using the drop down box and then press the ‘add to cart’ button. Once you are happy with your selection of tracks, press the ‘checkout’ button, which will take you to our secure payment page.


Q: What happens once I have paid?

A: Once your payment has been accepted, you will be provided with a link that will take you to your download area. You will then be able to download your zip files.


Q: What if I have a problem downloading?

A: Your link will be available for you to try again, up to five times.


Q: Can I get a refund?

A: Due to the intangible nature of our product, it is difficult to offer a refund but if you have any concerns about your order, please feel free to contact us and we will do all we can to help.
